The state criterium championship was put on by LAPT. The course is located in Mukwonago and is a flat 8 corner course. The weather was a bit humid but it stayed dry.
I felt good warming up. There was about 50 racers. This is a pretty good size group for a WCA race. During the race there were plenty of attempts of breakaways, but everything was chased down. I held my own staying out of trouble and keeping myself in decent positioning throughout. I blew it on the last lap. On the long backstretch I let myself get boxed in a bit. I heard that there were some crashes in the race. I am glad I wasn't a part of them and was able to finish with all my skin. I finished 11th. Here is a little video.

Trek 100, Diablo Criterium
Saturday I did the Trek 100 hosted by Trek in Waterloo. The weather was kind of chilly to start, but did warm up nicely. I said good morning to Jens while he was grabbing a bite. I did the 100 miles and I raised just over $200.00 for the MACC Fund. I was pretty exhausted after the ride. I have a little video of Jens riding in the pack.

Sunday was the Diablo Criterium in Menasha. The weather was rainy in the morning and it looked like it was going to rain during the race, but it only sprinkled a little. The attacks were plentiful and the race was plenty hard. My legs surprisingly enough felt pretty good, considering that I rode a 100 miles the day before. I was able to bridge the gap one time, but it wasn't the right move. The next attempt was the one that stuck. I finished 7th. Here is a video of the last 15 minutes.

LAPT R.R., Sussex Criterium
Saturday was a road race held in the Palmyra area. It was put on by LAPT. The weather was horrible, cold, rainy and super windy. The course is nice, well at least to my liking. No big climbs! I had to race for 45 miles. If I remember correctly a break formed on the 2nd lap with just one guy going up the road and then 4 others eventually joining them. We never caught them. The cross winds hurt me the most. On the last lap I wasn't able to mentally push through the pain to stay with them. I finished the last 1/4 lap solo. I did one person behind me and I kept pushing to make sure that he didn't catch me. I finished 10th. I am pretty happy with that considering the conditions. I opted to leave the camera in the car, sorry, no race footage.
Sunday was a criterium held in the Sussex industrial park. It was put on by Café Hollender. The weather was still cooler than our normal temperatures and still a bit windy. But, it was SUNNY! This course has a hill on it, not my ideal course. The race had some attacks of some trying to get a break going, but it never happened. On the sprint I didn't have the legs to be really successful. I finished 9th. Here is a link to the first lap and the last 2 laps.

I had a good week of training. I came into the weekend a little over trained. I am going to get some active recovery this week. Monday and Tuesday will be easy days, Wednesday will be OBC, I will be just sitting in and working on stacking 0's. Thursday will be the group ride, but mellow. Friday will be off and Saturday I plan on doing the Trek 100 and doing 100 miles and then Sunday doing the Diablo Criterium.

Velo Cause R.R., MOSH Criterium, Velo Cause Crit.
It was a busy weekend. Saturday started with a road race, Sunday was a criterium and Monday was also a criterium.
Saturday was the Velo Cause Road Race. It was held in Palmyra, WI. The weather was a bit windy with lots of sunshine and temperature was in the 80's. The course was just over 8 miles per lap and had one climb that was challenging for me. I had to do 5 laps. I placed 7th. Here is a video of some of the last lap and finishing sprint.

Sunday was the MOSH Criterium and was held at the Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Franklin, WI. This course was AWESOME! Very technical that went through the parking lot. You were always turning. It did have a slight hill on it. The weather was not great, but I was happy to just stay dry for the most part. Very cloudy, windy and the average temperature was 54 degrees. It was a very active race with lots of attacks. With the unpredictable weather the fields were very small. M1,2,3 only had 11 or 12 racers. I finished 5th and that was good enough to win $20.00. Here is a video of the 1st and last lap of the race.

Monday was the Velo Cause Criterium and was held at Concordia University in Mequon. Weather was partly cloudy, very windy and in the 70's. The course was relatively flat. There was a 3 man breakaway that stayed away. When the break happened I was pretty gassed from being very active to try to make sure I wouldn't get caught out of a break. I finished 6th. Darn it, 1 position out of getting any $. Here is a video of the first and last lap.

WIN!
Saturday the race was held in Neenah. Wheel & Sprocket was the host team. The weather was awesome! Sunny and in the 80's and the winds were mild-ish. The field was small (25 guys) especially for the nice weather.
During the race I felt really good. I was being very active with certain guys trying to establish a break. Other than these attempts I felt the race to be pretty easy. I was positioning myself very well throughout the race. One the last lap I was third wheel and was positioned well. The guy in front of me did a awesome job fighting stay on the front and out of danger allowing me to sprint around him at the very last second for the win! See below for the on board footage.
Sunday the race was held in Salem Park. Kenosha Velosport was the host. The weather looked very iffy. The rain did hold off, but it was a bit windy. The course was really rolling, too much climbing for me. Again the field was small (11 guys) not sure why? I didn't stay with the lead group, I finished 8th. See below for the on board footage of the guys pulling away.

Bone Ride
I decided to do the Bone Ride again this years. I was unsure about doing it again, but the weather was good so why not? Sunny and upper 50's, can't go wrong. A great day to ride 160 miles.
I started in Wauwatosa at a team mates home. Another team mate met us at his house too. Three of us strolled over to the start point. At the start there were others waiting for the start. It was very chilling at 8am. We rolled out to Madison for lunch and then rolled back. Here is a little video from yesterday.
